Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Air Traffic Control the Netherlands and AirFrance/KLM have together taken the initiative to launch Airport CDM at Schiphol Airport. Other parties will join in gradually during the process, including ha nd ling agents and other airlines. 

Schiphol Airport is the fifth largest airport in Europe by passenger volume. In 2008 47.8 million passengers used the airport. In terms of cargo, Schiphol Airport is the third largest airport in Europe. Continuous investment in quality and customer satisfaction is essential if Schiphol is to retain its status as a main port. The introduction of Airport CDM at Schiphol Airport marks an important step towards improving quality and will lead to an increase in the punctuality of arrival and departure times. Passengers will benefit from this in the sense that they will experience fewer delays, better connections in the case of transfers and more accurate flight information. The introduction of Airport CDM will also have a positive effect on the environment. Fewer queues at gates and runways will lead to lower CO2 and NOx emissions as well as to less noise pollution.
